Burn pECX from BitWindow — the window closes at the betanet fork.

The Alphanet ends at Bitcoin block 967,680 (expected Saturday 19 September, ~08:00 UTC). Burn in BitWindow before then: the Receive page carries a Burn Transaction card that sends your pECX to the Bitcoin eater address and puts your wallet's own first address in the OP_RETURN. That address receives 1/100 of what you burn as real ECX at mainnet, rounded up — 1,013 pECX becomes 10.134 ECX. A burn that does not make it into an Alphanet block before the fork is never credited, so the practical deadline is a block, not a date.

Disclaimer — read this

This page is vibe-coded. It was written by an AI agent, it has not been reviewed or audited by anyone, and it can be wrong — including about the burn address, the ratio, the deadline and the steps on this page. Treat it as a signpost, never as a source, and check anything important somewhere you trust.

Do not follow burn, swap or conversion guides from random websites, videos, chats, DMs or strangers. A page like this one is exactly what a scam looks like from the outside. Verify every detail yourself against more than one of the official sources listed below, and check the address character-for-character before you send anything anywhere.

Nothing here is financial advice, and this site is not affiliated with the eCash or Drivechain developers. Never enter a seed phrase or private key anywhere to “receive” coins.

Read before you burn

It cannot be undone. The eater address has no private key, by design — those pECX are gone, and what comes back is the credit at mainnet, nothing else.

1,000 is not enough. The threshold is exclusive: burning exactly 1,000 gets you nothing, and there is no topping up afterwards.

Your ECX is credited to your wallet's first address — you never type a payout address. If you cannot sign for that address later, you cannot reach the ECX, so do not burn from a wallet you are about to throw away.

The clock is Bitcoin's, not yours. A burn left in the Alphanet mempool when the last alpha block is mined is never credited.

This came out of the project's own Telegram group; there is still no official specification document. Ask before moving anything you would miss.

Nobody legitimate needs your seed phrase or private key to help you redeem. Anyone who asks is robbing you.

How to burn, with BitWindow

  1. Update BitWindow, and be on Alphanet — The burn is new, so an older build does not have it — update from inside the app (LayerTwo ships through Sparkle, not GitHub releases). The card only exists on Alphanet; on any other network it is not shown at all.
  2. Go to Wallet → Receive, with an Electrum wallet selected and unlocked — It must be a wallet holding its own private key: BitWindow refuses Core wallets, watch-only wallets and hardware wallets — "This wallet cannot sign this burn. Select a software wallet with its private key." The Burn Transaction card sits below the receive QR.
  3. Enter the amount, read the two panels, press Burn Transaction — Up to 8 decimals, and it must exceed 1,000. BitWindow then shows Alphanet → Real ECX (what you give up, what you get) and the outputs: your amount to the eater address, plus a 0-value OP_RETURN carrying your wallet's first address. Press Burn Transaction, and keep the txid it returns — that is your proof of burn.

The procedure, as implemented

Burn address1BitcoinEaterAddressDontSendf59kuE
NetworkpECX on the ECX Alphanet — the burn card only exists on Alphanet
Conversion1/100 of what you burn, rounded up to a whole ECX satoshi: 1,000 → 10 ECX, 1,013 → 10.13 ECX
MinimumStrictly more than 1,000 pECX. Exactly 1,000 is rejected.
DeadlineBefore the betanet fork — BTC block 967,680, expected Saturday 19 September 2026 at about 08:00 UTC. BitWindow stops offering the card when the Alphanet stops.
MainnetECX mainnet at BTC block ~973,728, on or around 31 October 2026. The betanet forked earlier, at block 967,680 on 19 September — that fork is on the betanet page, not this one.
PayoutThe OP_RETURN carries the wallet's own first address, and the ECX credit lands there. BitWindow fills it in — you do not type an address.

SourceVerified against the implementation, not a document: ECXBurnAddress, ECXBurnMinimumSats = 100,000,000,000 sat and ECXCreditSats = ceil(burn/100) in sidechain-orchestrator/wallet/ecx_burn.go. No official specification exists.

Where the procedure came from

1. Send to 1BitcoinEaterDontSendxxx 2. Add a 0-valued op return, to an address A that you have the key for. The coins will go to address A. As long as there is more than the threshold (1000).

Drivechain Talk (Telegram, private supergroup) — Paul Sztorc, 14 Sep 2026 01:22 UTC, confirmed by him at 01:25 UTC ("Yes that's the one"); message ids 250407, 250411, 250412. Ratio and minimum were restated in the same group on 15 Sep ("confirmed that you will get 10 ECX for every 1000 alpha pECX, as long as you burn at least 1000"), and the numbers below were then read out of the implementation itself.

Verify it yourself

  1. The constants: burn address, minimum, credit maths — ECXBurnAddress, ECXBurnMinimumSats, ECXCreditSats = ceil(burn/100)
  2. The BitWindow burn card and its wording — this is the UI described above
  3. The CLI command and its preconditions — Alphanet only, Electrum wallet, amount must exceed the minimum
  4. drivechain.info/dev.txt — still dated 19 Feb 2026 — the burn is not documented here
  5. ecash.com — carries nothing about the burn either

The automated watcher was stopped on 14 September 2026 — none of the sources it could read ever carried this. Updated by hand.

Change log

  • Procedure published from the implementation; page switched to the conversion guide. No official specification exists.
  • Copy pass: headline and message pinned to the fork block, deadline row tightened, warnings and sources rewritten for a reader.
  • Deadline pinned to the betanet fork (BTC block 967,680, ~19 Sep 08:00 UTC) and the beta fork linked; see /betanet/.
  • Guide reduced to the three BitWindow steps; the CLI route is no longer part of it.
  • Ratio and minimum restated in the group; both verified against the wallet code. Guide rewritten around the BitWindow burn card.
  • Alphanet retirement announced: "alphanet stops this week" — burn, sell, or wrap before it does.
  • Burn mechanism stated by Paul Sztorc in the Drivechain Talk Telegram group; page switched to the guide by hand.
  • Automated watcher stopped — the sources it was pointed at never carried any of this.
